How long will the training take?
 
Our 1 day course (six hours) comprises of a full day of instruction  the B+E Test will be taken the following day. This course would be best suited for someone who has recently taken and been unfortunate enough to fail the test.
 
Our 2 day courses (12 hour) comprises a full day of instruction on the first day, followed by a break of 3-7 days. The second day includes follow-up tuition and the B+E Test will be taken at the end of the second day. If you prefer, we will run this Course back to back. This course would suite someone who has some towing experience. 
 
Our 3 day courses (18 hour) comprises a full day of instruction on the first day, followed by a break of 3-7 days. The second and third days includes follow-up tuition and the B+E Test will be taken at the end of the third day. Again if you prefer, we will run this Course back to back. This course would suite someone who has very little towing experience.
 
How much will the training cost?
 
Auckland Trailer Training prices are £30 per hour and for this you recieve top quality tuition, the use of either a Vauxhall Astra SRI 150 1.9cdti or a Landrover Freelander TD4 along with a Indespension Tav4 box trailer, all the fuel during training and for the Test, plus full insurance cover. Is there a theory part to the Test?
 
No, not at the present time, practical only.
 
What is the cost of the B+E Test with the DSA?
 
The current cost of the Test is £115 on weekdays. To take your test on a Saturday It will cost an extra £20.
 
Can I practice at home?
 
Yes, as long as you display L plates, the person supervising must be over the age of 21 and has held the  B+E category on their licence for at least 3 years, and you must inform your insurance company.
 
What age can I take the B+E Test?
 
Anyone over the age of 17 years who has passed their driving test can take the B+E Test.
 
How long does the Test last?
 
Approximately 70 minutes.
 
Who will book the Test?
 
Auckland Trailer Training will book the test for you.
 
Will I be asked to carry out any manoeuvres on the road (public highway)?
 
No. all the manoeuvres like reversing, braking, uncoupling and recoupling will be carried out off road.
  
What about insurance cover?
 
We will provide you with full insurance during training and whilst you are taking the Test. You may ask to see the Insurance Cover at any time.
 
Where do I take the Test?
 
The B+E Test is usually carried out at an LGV Test Centre where there is sufficient space to carry out the off-road manoeuvres.
 
How many faults am I allowed on the Test?
 
You are allowed up to 16 minor driving errors but no serious or dangerous driving faults.
 
If I fail the Test can I re-sit, and when?
 
You can re-sit the Test, but you must leave a gap of 3 clear working days between the two dates.
 
What can I tow when I have passed the B+E test?
 
You can tow up to the vehicle's towing capacity.
 
What is 'noseweight'?
This is the amount of weight that the trailer puts in a downwards direction on the towbar or the rear of the vehicle. The recommended nose weight for each vehicle can be found in the manufacturer's handbook.
